The Six Spires System Empty
PostSubject: The Six Spires System   The Six Spires System EmptySat Oct 15, 2016 4:35 pm

For this game, we are using the 6S system. It functions similarly to Unknown Armies, if rather simplified. Each character has six core traits, each of which represent a method of tackling a problem. When you use a trait to attempt to overcome a problem, you attempt to roll under that trait on a D100. The closer you get to the value of the trait the better. Rolling the value of your trait will give you a critical success. Rolling a 100 will critically fail. Some challenges are more difficult and will result in you getting a penalty to the roll.

The Six Traits

Fists: Solve your problems through brute force. Don't bother picking that lock, kick the door in. Escape the bar brawl by defenestration a guy and making an escape route. Intimidate that sucker. Punching, kicking, threatening, swinging a sword and firing a gun all come under this trait.

Eyes: Solve your problems through watchfulness. Notice that clue hidden under the table. Stalk that guy through the city streets. Let them do the talking and listen while nodding politely.

Fingers: Solve your problems through stealth and wit. Pick the lock on the door. Hid in the shadows. Lie to the Officer's face. Stealth and deception fall under this trait.

Faces: Solve your problems through social skills. Talk down the nice man brandishing the broken bottle at you. Write that poem to impress the Institute. Seduce that attractive person over there. Seduction, manipulation, and the arts all use this trait.

Brains: Solve your problems academically. Translate that mysterious script. Pull out the book of exposition. Poke the unknown substance and work out that is poison before one of your friends licks it. Beat that tree at chess for your soul. Researching and knowing things fall under this trait.

Bones: Solve your problems through persistence and hard work. Spend hours pouring over documents for a tiny error. Keep going through flames, winter and illness. Build your house extension. This trait usually takes longer than the others, but it get results.

At character creation, you get 300 points to put into your stats. The stats can vary between 30 and 70 at character creation.

Factions

Each character will have connections to at least one of the various Factions in the city. Each character starts off a member of their own Faction. They start three Faction points for that faction. These points can be spent to increase any of your traits by 10 per point for rolls relating to that faction.

You then get 2 points to assign to two other factions. Unlike your own faction, these can only be used to improve two traits, depending on your relationship with that Faction.

Positive Relationship: You get on well with and understand the other faction. You can spend a faction point to gain a +10 to Faces or Brains rolls relating to that faction.

Ambiguous Relationship: You are aware of them, but your interactions tend more towards the grey. You can spend a faction point to gain a +10 to Bones and Eyes rolls related to that Faction.

Negative Relationship: Fuck those guys. You can spend a faction point to gain a +10 to Fists and Fingers rolls related to that Faction.
